In the spring and fall of 2018, paddler Alex Martin will be visiting schools to talk about the trip, water stewardship, and outdoor activities. From nursery to high school, from science classes to outdoor education, the school portion of the circumnavigation campaign is perhaps the most important.
The presentations vary depending on the class, covering a wide variety of topics, such as safety, training, and preparation. No matter the theme, the presentations always include photos, promotion of outdoor activities, and a time for questions and answers.
The presentation also includes information about Pimachiowin Aki, the UNESCO World Heritage Site on the east side of Lake Winnipeg, and the history of the lake and its watershed.
Joint presentations with Lake Winnipeg Foundation cover the science aspect more readily, along with information about organizations working to protect the lake.
